In the age of computers and video games, kids today may not ever want to pick up a book and read, at least not without some parental involvement. That is why it is so important to encourage our children to read when they are younger and to continue to do so as they grow up. Many parents may forget this once their children are older and reading well. This can have some negative impact, as not all kids immediately develop a love for reading. Thankfully, a love for reading can develop at any age. In fact, seventh grade is a great time to help ignite this love. At this age they have reached a whole different level in their maturity. How can you help get the sparks started? Buy a book for them! There are so many options out there, so make sure to keep your child’s interests in mind, as this will defiantly help make them more willing to read the book. I know my child enjoys books when he can relate more to the characters or authors, like books by homeschoolers.
