How do people afford to homeschool? Well, I’ll tell you, it isn’t easy. Most of us have to make sacrifices to make it happen. Our family has never owned more than one vehicle at a time. Some moms have to work a part-time job, some dads work two jobs.
We tend to be a frugal bunch, mainly out of necessity. We sell our used homeschool curriculum, buy used and save for the next school year. We borrow from each other and the library. We read books like “Homeschooling on a Shoestring”. We get together to share the teaching load in co-ops.
We are ALWAYS on the look out for freebies! Anything from free planners to free unit studies will grab our attention. http://www.homeschooling-ideas.com/homeschool-freebies.html. We get tons of ideas, advice and lesson plans from the Internet.
We scrimp and save and often get our kid’s clothes at the thrift store, but in the end, it’s all worth it!
