There are about as many reasons to homeschool as there are homeschoolers, and it seems every family has their own story. Some homeschooling parents were homeschooled themselves, and others are what is called “accidental homeschoolers” because they didn’t start out intending to homeschool. Quite often, parents whose children are enrolled in school may decide to homeschool due to concerns about the rigor of the academics, or because of parental objections to moral or religious issues in the school system. Sometimes parents feel they can do a better job than the school district, and this often occurs with special needs children who have concerns not being addressed at school, or medical problems and necessary therapy that takes away from a typical school day.
